Op zondag 11 november 2012 hebben we weer deelgenomen aan de herdenking dienst in de St Mary’s Chapel nabij Kasteel Weldam te Diepenheim.
Buiten en in de kerk werden diverse nummers ten gehore gebracht met bijna de volledige groep.
Vergezeld van een Colourparty en de voorgangster van de Anglicaanse Kerk van Twente werd de dienst een heel bijzondere, was de algemene indruk van de aanwezigen.
Tijdens de ceremonie werd het volgend gedicht voor gedragen:
That Special Place
Take my hand and come with me
To a special place across the sea
A sacred place in hallowed ground
A place where love and sorrow’s found
It’s not a curch you’ll understand
Just a part of home in another land
A place where gravestones stand arrayed
Like a phantom army on parade
Stand close by me and patience keep
and soon you’ll see a brave man weep
He cries for his comrade beneath the stone
And I tell you friend he’s not alone
Scenes like this are commonplace
in our special meeting place
So as you stroll down memory lane
Think of us who must remain

Na de herdenkingsdienst werden buiten ook nog diverse nummers gespeeld.
Voor volgend jaar werd nu al weer een verzoek gedaan om dan ook weer mee te werken aan wat men “very special” noemde, waaraan we natuurlijk weer graag zullen voldoen.

Accompanied by a colour party of the “Bond van Wapenbroeders” (Dutch Legion), Organ and Bugle, this service at the Anglican Church of Twente became very special, according to the church goers. Our special thanks to all, that we were inited again this year.
We already received the invitation for next year’s Remembrance Sunday, which we are more than honored to accept.
