Kerstmis 2011 Holten Canadese militaire begraafplaatsXmas eve 2011 at Holten Canadian War Cemetary
Net als in vorige jaren was een kleine delegatie van ons, op verzoek, weer in Holten op de Canadese begraafplaats om te spelen bij het plaatsen vaan de kaarsen.
Het is mooi om te zien dat er veel kinderen bij zijn, en zo steeds de herinnering wordt doorgegeven.
Zoals altijd is de combinatie van de kinderen die kaarsen plaatsen bij ieder graf, en de tonen van Midwinterhoorn en Doedelzak, voor ons het begin van Kerstmis
Dit jaar was het droog, en met een heldere hemel ook nog lang licht.
Like in previous years a delegation of our Pipe Band was present at the Holten Canadian war cemetery to support the placing of the candles.
It’s a pleasant thought that this ceremony is being attended by so many children, and thereby passing on the memory of freedom and its sacrifices.
This year, no snow, mild temperature and an unclouded sky saving the daylight a bit longer.
Like always, the combination of children placing the candles at every grave and the sound of “Midwinterhoorn” and Bagpipes made it a true beginning of Christmas

De jaarlijkse kerstviering op de Canadese militaire begraafplaats in Holten stond helemaal in het teken van een “witte Kerst” , maar wel een koude kerst.
Dat verhinderde niet dat er veel kinderen waren om de kaarsjes bij de graven te plaatsen.
Maar de lage temperatuur zorgde er wel voor dat de muziek zowat “bevroor”
This year’s Xmas eve celebration at the Holten Canadian war cemetery had all aspects of a “White Christmas”, but that implied it was really cold.
The bitter cold even attempted to freeze the bagpipes
But this low temperature did not hinder the school children to place the candles at all the graves
